So excited, my used 7D2 I bought off ebay (first used camera gear purchase) was supposedly shipping Fedex Ground from California to Connecticut which would mean delivery around Tuesday Jan. 31. Been checking tracking number with Fedex but not seeing any status updates, so decided to double check through ebay, and whatdayaknow, it's out for delivery today via USPS! Can't wait to get home from the office to find my new toy waiting, unfortunately the CF card, batteries and grip are gonna be a few days.

Got my new 7D2 unpacked and tested, first impression is "wow the menu is complicated compared to my Rebel T6S!" Came with firmware 1.02 which I upgraded to 1.10, and everything seems to be working perfectly. Once the Nor'easter passes will have to take it out with the Sigma 150-600mm C and put it through its paces, but it looks brand new and initial testing seems to be positive.

Get Doug Klostermann's ebook. It's only about 10 bucks and goes over the features and settings in detail.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

I loved firm 1.02, wish I could have that camera back. I wouldn't change a thing. And the real truth is its just a camera and you can figure it out really fast. just set the case you would like and shoot. but do yourself a fav, shoot it just as it is and you will be amazed.... Just My Two Cents

Jeff, what did you like better about firmware v.1.02 versus 1.10? I read about your troubles upgrading from 1.02 at the time, but are you still having issues you would attribute to the firmware version? Really amazing photos, you're the one who sold me (and I'm sure many others) on the 7d2 - Canon should pay you a commission for every photo you've posted in this thread!

Mine is still on 1.02 and I have never upgraded the firmware. Likewise, my 5D3 has never been updated. I have had no problems with either and didn't see the need to change anything. I did update the original 7D, but that was due to a significant upgrade in functionality.

Me too and have never had an issue. Can't remember which one, the 7D2 or 5D3 but it corrected and AF issue at 100mm with the 70-200 2.8 II IS.
