OK...Carlo...lens recomendations for Disney...I have the B18,B25 and will have teh rented 70-200 f4...I "think" I can fit one more...50 f1.4 or 135 f2?

And you SR app users...I was fiddling around with it again tonight...and it kept shutting off, not sure the number of frames it took, somewhere between 30 and 50...and how do you guys know exactly how many it takes...do you sit there and count them off?

I'd bring the 50 for portraits when the batis 25 is too wide and will bring too much of the crowds into the frame. 135mm will compress the background too much and create neutral backgrounds...Not really what you want when you're documenting your family's day in the parks.

Sounds good.

One concept I had in mind using the SR app was having a subject stand still in a crowd and taking a long exposure with the app. I wonder how well the movement of the crowd would be captured against a person standing still. Would be cool to try that out at Disney.

I tried it and it didn't work out. I think you need there to be more gaps between people than not, otherwise you get this ethereal looking blur. Doesn't quite work in Disney where there's a constant flow of foot traffic. This was 16 5 second exposures....I had a 10 stop ND on. Maybe a REAAAAALLY long exposure when there's less ambient light out would work.

I think it looks like of cool though. I meant to try it again in front of the haunted mansion since it sort of reminds of the passage of the dead or something...I never got around to it....it's hard to mess with long exposures during a day in the park.

FYI this was taken on top of a trash-can using a platypod. There are trashcans all over the park that can be used as make-shift tripods, and they tend to be positioned well too.

I was bored last night and wanted to practice a bit with flash, so grabbed one of the kids toys and placed it on a fence post and shot it with the sunset behind.

Took a trip to Trinidad and Tobago. Unfortunately Trinidad was very unsafe, so I didn't take photos as much as I would have liked. These were all taken with the FE 28mm (except for the first, taken with the FE 55). It's kind of like a poor man's RX1 when you pair it with an a7 camera. I really love this lens so far.

It tells you on the LCD what's shot you are on. Set up your shot, choose the number of images in the smoothing menu. Then press DISP a few times until you get the view that has all the info (max info view). Now the app will tell you what shot you are on all the way through the process - 38/64 etc

Apparently the a7RII bodies are discounted and some people are are getting theirs for $2200 with an old lens trade in. Crazy good deal. Sucks if you are planning to sell your a7RII.

Brilliant price. I wonder if the a7riii is imminent then

Practicing basic camera movement with Edelkrone Wing 3. Obviously I need more practice. With better subject.

Shot in 4K ISO6400 with the RX100

that was my thought too...wide enough to shoot a portrait here and there, can stop down and include some background or open it up and blow it away...so it made it into the bag...I had to search ALL over the house for my extra FE rear lens cap that came on the Metabones...and the front body cap...since having the camera it always has something mounted, but to get the gear into the bag, I had to break it all down...I forgot how small the body is with no adapter on it!

Thanks for the tips...my daughter is starting to drive us nuts about when we leave...LOL!

Lol when are you going?

Bring a rocket blower and maybe some sensor wipes if you have them. I had to do a lot of run n gun lens changing so my sensor and lenses got dirty during the trip. I had to clean my gear a couple of times while we were there.

I fly down tomorrow for work, and the wife and daughter fly down Thursday afternoon...we are only doing two days, one at Magic Kingdom and one at Animal Kingdom...gotta ease into this...

Yep, rocket blower is packed....

My daughter turns 2 in February. I actually recommend bringing your kids when they're young....they appreciate it in a way that my 8 year old no longer does because they basically think everything is real. The typical hesitation towards bringing young kids is that they won't remember it......thankfully we here are skilled with these memory catching boxes so they can appreciate the memories later :-)

those are some good points... how bad was the hit on the wallet?
