Went out for a nice day birding in Michigan's Upper Peninsula yesterday. I was lucky enough to find the species I targeted. (Edited version later posted below.)

Very nice. I lived my first 27 years in Michigan and never saw a Spruce grouse. Lot's of Ruffs but no Spruce. Good stuff.

Very nice. Some people think they are mythical birds. I think lowering the exposure might bring out more richness in the coloration, more in keeping with where you usually find these guys. Anyway, good for you.

I used to live in Maine, where they also have Spruce Grouse. I never saw one though. Beautiful photo!
