Well I talked to Canon today..... they said they found nothing wrong with the camera even though they admit the photo samples I sent from 4 different lenses did not look in focus. In the end, they are refusing to give me a new camera body or refund my money. They did insinuate I did not know how to use the camera. I reminded them I have owned a 5D, a 5D2, two 5D3s plus several other high end Canon bodies over the past 16 years & never had any problems with them.

So any suggestions on what to do next? I have spoken twice with a high end Canon Executive.

Just a suggestion....

I wonder if you can get the retailer involved where you got it from.

Maybe they can assist. Maybe they can take some shots and verify the problem and they talk to Canon. Canon might take more notice of a re-seller rather than an end user.

That way you take yourself out of the equation and you have two sets of images to make a point with.

Just a thought.

Cape Buffalo. I was in the Kruger Park a few weeks ago and it was amazing to see so much greenery after one of the most devastating droughts in living memory. This was definitely the most grass this young buffalo has seem in its lifetime.

That means the Kruger will recover! I'd heard after our visit of the horrible drought and the dearth of animals.

Here is a resized video (4K) taken on Sunday. I wanted a nice closeup of the goshawk as he called (presumably to the parents) as adults were nearby.

Here is a still grabbed with PS CC and sized for web. Obviously I was shooting video at 1/50 sec so few frames are sharp. But for web use they are OK, at a push a small print.

Get one of them back on the line and try telling them who you are. It likely won't help, but it might.

One thing to stress over an cover in your discussions, "customer service".
Canon has GOT to separate it's techies from CS,. this is how they burn many bridges.

I am so sorry to hear this...I know it is extremely frustrating. I am not sure this would help, but I think I would craft a letter to the president of Canon. Mark the outside of the letter "Personal and Confidential". This might keep the letter from being opened (deflected) by "staff" or support people. I would go into detail of your history with Canon gear and your experience as a professional photographer (I envy at your work as most of my photography is taking photos of my grandchildren). I would also send an inexpensive thumb drive containing the out of focus pictures...or possibly print them out and send printed copies (if the printouts clearly show the issue). I think I would make the basis of the letter to be "I need your help".

Admittedly this may not help....but this is what I would do.

I wish you the best!!!! I love looking at your photos on POTN.

In my case, it was the techs who decided I would get a new camera. This was the CPS techs. The customer service rep I talked to told me that the CPS tech ( she selected the tech herself) would make the decision.

This is insane, and frightening to anyone considering a new $3000 + purchase. Who was the retailer? They won't /can't do anything?
I really hope this is resolved, for your benefit of course, and for the benefit and peace of mind of all Canon customers.
