Are the Nikon 1 AW1 lenses designed to be wet to be at their sharpest? In other words, are they designed using an optical formula that makes them sharper or optimized for use underwater instead of in air? I am not talking about are they waterproof but again, are they "wet lenses", sharper under than out of water. There is a difference.
Anyone run into this question before? The AW1 was perhaps in error thought of as a digital substitute or replacement for the old interchangeable lens Nikonos film camera.
I can vouch for the fact that being able to see what you photographed on the rear of the camera whether that camera is a point and shoot, a camera like the AW1 or a camera in a housing, has opened up a whole new world for underwater photographers.
