So I've been asked to do an outdoor lingerie shoot, and I'm struggling to find any inspiration pictures to decide on a suitable style.

Most of the outdoor boudoir I see is very soft and "beauty" orientated, however the subject wants more of a "sexy" tone to match the lingerie set. (Link to said lingerie set HERE (external link). As you can see, the set doesn't really suit the normal soft grasses or woodlands that you normally see in outdoor boudoir.

I guess my question is, how would you approach shooting this set? And what kind of location would you shoot this lingerie in?

If they mean outdoor as in 'not in the bedroom' then I'd suggest sticking with urban and maybe a warehouse.

Lumberyard, machine shop, construction site? These places come to mind because they have masculine associations, to contrast emotionally with the model, and limited palettes so bright colors in the background won't steal the show.

Good ideas, I was thinking along the same lines. Something like an old barn or farm house

I would have never thought that style would work at the beach, but I saw this the other day and it totally works.

I have found the beach to be a hard spot for lingerie. Downtown at night with a duster/full length jacket, warehouse, abandoned house, desert, brick wall, graffiti wall, car park, roof top, pool deck. Just to name a few more options.

Yes she's not keen on the beach as she doesn't want to get the set sandy or salty.

Do you have an images of the sets she plans to wear, I find that helps inspire a lot of my locations.

There's a link to the specific set in my first post :)

Thankfully though, we have managed to find an indoor location. Neither of us wanted to spend lots of dollars on a studio, however I had a brainwave and contacted the owner of a penthouse apartment via the roomsharing site Air BnB who is happy to let us shoot for half a day for $40!

Just catching up to this post. Yes, for indoor, AirBnB is great... I tend to find the owners like easy repeat business when you can promise no real use of the property (i.e, linens, etc.) I commit to leaving the property the way I found it and that can work to get a reduced rate since they don't have to clean up.

As far as outdoor lingerie, I've done a few of those on abandoned farms as well as urban areas during very early Sunday mornings with old painted buildings as backdrops.

You might consider a junkyard also along with the other suggestions you have received.

A few examples...
