You picked a tough assignment for yourself. Good on you. Keep posting. Another way to get a large light source is to shoot through a large diffuser or white cloth. Tall and narrow. Say 36"x10". If you have a shoot-through umbrella you could mask it off.

Black cards soak up light. Mirrors are extremely efficient reflectors. White cards and grey cards can all help.

You could burn down the specular highlight off the tips of the tuning pegs. They're a bit bright.

First real attempt at any sort of of product photography, wish I could have found my other flash foot so that I could have stood my yongnuo up. I also think I should have turned the bottle a little more to the left.

Yeah, they're a bit hot. I did Lightroom edits on my phone for these so I didn't catch them.

Love translums. Amazing stuff. Tons of use.

Diffusion is a vital lighting technique, and really needs more than those meagre 20"x24" sheets (I did buy the Rosco diffusion sampler set). I later invested in a 100' roll of Tough Rolux, and it's worth every penny. For the toe-dippers, the cheaper alternative is a frosted shower curtain—no joke!

Ok, that was funny.

Just simple setup. But I just tried the Westcott dual socket magic arm on a boom arm

Im certainly no expert at this set up lark, in fact I compare flash photography as somewhat of a black art and studio flash is just plain voodoo
But here is pretty much my first foray into setting something up with a certain result in mind

All advice and/or criticism is greatly accepted
