Don't ask why the settings are 1/5000 and f/2.8 (I wasn't paying enough attention)

So that's why it's so crappy, right?

The 7D2 with 1.4x will outresolve them both, though. So, I kept the 7D2 (I shoot mostly birds) and still use it when I need to crop a lot and when the light is good. When close (like feeder setup or large, tame birds) or low light, 5DIV. What he said

The 4 is sooo much cleaner, and even when the noise is about the same ( I think the 5D4 must be close to two stops better) the noise looks so much nicer. (IMHO) That is all I use both when I sjoot hockey and while the 5D4 stays at 4000 ISO the 7D2 has to be up at 6000. It's a real pain. Stuff

Shutter speed 160, f/3.2 ISO 2500 with window light from outside on a gloomy day. Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

I was toying with the idea of using the 27-70 2.8 on the 5D4 (I get to shoot ringside) and having the 85 1.8 on the 7DII to give me about 135 on the 7dII @1.8 to get the ISO down a bit and have that longer FL for various reasons. But I was looking my shots from last year with the 7dII and they just do not look as good.... by that I mean for example a 7DII @ 3200 does not look as good as the 5d4 at 10000. It's almost like I would be better off with a 6D for the more static stuff. The crop factor affects exposure and ISO too as well as f-stop. Took me a while to figure that out!! Ed

Sure the FPS would suffer a bit but the high ISO characteristics would be better. Just time your shots tighter and in shorter bursts. I doubt I would go much wider than f/2.8 during an active fight anyway. A cropped image from the 5D4 will most likely be "better" at higher ISO's than that from the 7D2 uncropped. 5D4, 7D2, 16-35 f/4L IS, 24-70 f/2.8L II, 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, 100-400L IS II, 100 f/2.8L IS, 300 f/4L IS, 500 f/4L IS, 2xIII, Σ35A, Σ85A, Samyang 14 f/2.8 & 85 f/1.4
