Cross posted from the B&W forum...

I drive by this spot a few times a year. It's usually really bright with very little contrast. On this day there were big storms rolling through the area and it was raining so hard over Pacheco Pass that the rain was running UP the windshield. When we got into the central valley the rain was gone but the clouds were blowing through. When we turned off the freeway I was greeted with this view.

The natural colour and simple composition are very appealing.

A storm was rolling in and it had just started to rain as the sun was setting. I really liked the compressed view the telephoto gave and how the layers of trees cut into the valley, creating a zigzag of colorful tundra leading up to snow-capped mountains.

Don't even begin to think I'm criticizing your images.
Just a natural curiosity.
