Night Landscapes

I have been wanting to go out and take star trails for quite a while, but never had the opportunity. I finally decided to just go out on short notice and take some shots about an hour away from home on the Marineland, FL coastline. I knew it was going to be a long morning when my head lamp stopped working. The humidity at the beach was also causing a lot of condensation on my camera and lens, so I had to wipe the lens down every so often. Unfortunately, this slightly moved my composition, so this one took quite a while in post processing to align all the stars again. Despite all this, I am pretty happy with the results and enjoyed the challenge.

This is my first star trails shot and I would love any comments or criticism you guys can offer.

I used a Nikon D5100 @ 11mm; ~1.5 hrs of exposures (f/2.8, 30s, ISO 640)

To be honest, I am not one of those that likes star trails.
I do like yours though!
Really, I have not EVER wanted to do this, the idea does not appeal to me at all, and it's rare, VERY RARE that I see any that do appeal to me, and yours really does that. Your foreground is perfect in my opinion and seems to be made for your star trails.

I like it! I think that you really did good, as much as I know about it, which is not much, I hear that it's not that easy to do, well, to do it correctly.

Anytime you try something you haven''t done before is good. Critique ...........switch to Canon(kidding)

Sometimes you really need to get your fix of astrophotography, but you have no time available to drive away from the city

Haha, unfortunately I wasn't able to convince anyone to come along this time, but sometimes I prefer it. Especially if they aren't into photography, I always feel rushed. I am way too invested into Nikon right now

It really does.
Back in 2011/2012, when the economic crisis reached its peak here in Portugal, some villages would switch off public illumination (or part of it) around 02h00 or 03h00. That policy was later abandoned when we started experiencing some economic growing and a new election cycle started

Some villages and major cities are in now making the switch to LED, but I it is still to soon to evaluate the results.
