Lovely shots, Charles! I hope to make to your neck of the woods, some day! So much to see there!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Haha, good one Jake! Agreed on these little guys! But they almost never stand still! I managed to get a couple of shots off just before he darted off again.

I'm considering upgrading from the v1 to the v2. For those of you that have owned both, what it is biggest difference(s) that I could expect to see by going with this version?

I'm interested primarily in image quality, IS, and handling/weight. Can someone put these three characteristics in the order from the biggest to the smallest when it comes to the difference between v1 and v2?

Thanks in advance.

And, yes, I have viewed almost every page of this thread and I have read some informative comparisons between the two. Hoping to get some more feedback from those that might not have stated earlier.

I forgot to mention that I use my 2xTC and extension tubes A LOT!

Not sure if that affects whether the v2 is still worth the upgrade for me.

(perhaps wait until the DO version is released, if that is even in the works?)

This cute little guy is actually a full grown adult called a Steenbok. They are very terrritorial but have minute territories (1 hectare) so if you keep your eyes open, you see a lot of them in the Southern African bush. I never get sick of seeing them however.

Hi everyone! So I received my lens Monday. Wow it's a beast!!! Went out shooting today. Would you guys say there's a bit of a learning curve with this animal? My shots were mediocre. I was on a 2 series rrs tripod and bh40 head (). Getting a sidekick soon. So my shots seemed to be a bit blurry even on shutter speed of 1/1000 with birds in flight! Wow I had no idea the amount of work action shots can be! I loved it! Got my butt kicked but kinda expected.

At that shutter speed and focal length can the tripod really introduce vibration that's visible to our eyes? I probably sound so naive- just trying to learn and master this canon! Thanks everyone and I appreciate your patience!!
