I shot the photo in 1979 using a 4x5 view camera, giving the Ektachrome a double exposure. The lens was a vintage 1959 Kodak Ektar f/7.7 203mm with a Compur shutter.

1st exposure: I deliberately underexposed the setting sun, which rendered the buildings and land virtually black.

2nd exposure: An hour later, with the sky dark and the buildings lit, I gave the ASA (ISO) 50 film a second exposure of 3 minutes. This had no effect on the previously recorded sky and sun.

Decades later, I took it to Photoshop 7.0 and created this (tacky?) animation.
