Found this in part of a video posted March 18/2016. Im curious to know if anyone can identify or speculate on what it is.

To me it looks like a sigma hood. It also has the same dark finnish as a sigma.

Any ideas?

Yep!

That said, since I moved this thread to the predictions forum based on title,. ;)

... SIGMA is in position to add a new OS Sport version of their tired old 300mm f/2.8.

Dixie Dixon is a Nikon ambassador. She is going to use nothing but Nikon equipment.

The Nikon 200mm f2 needs an update. It's a fantastic lens, but the current version is 500 gr heavier than the Canon 200mm f2.

I'd like it to be a high performing 400 f/2.8 OS as I have the 120-300 f/2.8 OS and need more reach at times in low light.

I presume the new 500/4 isn't fast enough?

Nope - I'm often shooting gymnastics or dance at 1/800s or faster to freeze action so at f/2.8 the pictures are often => ISO 6400 so I wouldn't want to go any higher on ISO by going to f/4.

Id guess that they come out with a 200f2 before a 300f2.8...i'm not even sure if there's really a spot in the market for a 300sport

Considering the recent news I would be willing to bet they would release a 200mm 1.8 OS

My entire hobby of gear lust has temporarily been shifted into overload. Please be patient while my mind tries to get back onto the road to recovery. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause....

An increase from f2 to f1.8 would make the lens about one kilo heavier. That's probably the reason why Canon didn't make an f1.8 Mark II.
