Very nice.

Thanks. We had a one hour window of sun today so dashed out to watch the birds. They are singing like Spring has come. More snow in the forecast though.

Had a chance to try my 16-35 III on some motocross. Fun times as these guys fly past me head.

I haven't touched my 1DIV since I bought my 80D in November. I find the 80D to be worthy competition for everything the 1DIV does, except frame rate. I played with the 1DIV a bit yesterday. I still love this camera. Please, meet George, my diabetic cat:

I'm really liking the 1DIV combined with the 70-200L F/2.8. In the winter in Scotland the light is generally pretty bad so the 2.8 is helpful. I think the 300mm f/4 will my choice for the 5D4 as the 100-400 is just too slow. I think my ideal lens would be the 300L f/2.8 although the pros seem to have 400 f/2.8. However, they miss a lot of shots as the action is just too close to them.

I sold my very first sports image to a local newspaper from this match. I'll post it after the paper comes out at the end of the week.

Cool shots, Annie!

The nice thing about the 300/4 is how light it is. I can shoot the 1D4+300/4 forever. Same with the 400/5.6. Your 70-200/2.8 is also pretty light. Try hand holding a 400/2.8! That thing is not only very expensive but also very heavy. The 300/2.8 is lighter but still about a kilo heavier than what you have now.

Now that is seriously nice, Annie. Congratulations!!

Thanks, Levina. Ha, I was just musing on the 300 f/2.8 - there's no way I can afford it and I was just saying it was probably my ideal lens for this kind of sports where I'm actually on the touch-line. I'm very happy with what I've got. There's no way I want to have to deal with a tripod or monopod - I like being able to move about. Winter light is my main issue but that should be improving soon!

Yeah, that winter light! That's why I shoot birds with the 300/4 in winter. I'm actually contemplating getting the 200/2.8L II. A very good lens, weighs nothing, takes a TC well and can be had for no more than 750 euro.
