great catch Rog- very hard to get close to them in the day time. we used to go out at night with a bag and a stick- come to think of it we never saw them at night either

I havent been on a snipe hunt in years......When is the season open for them? I still have the bag to catch them in and the stick to drive them out of the brush...never did seem to catch any though..

I always wondered why snipe hunting became such a prank, considering they're a legitimate gamebird(season usually runs alongside waterfowl season in IA). Neat little birds in any case and with the myth part thrown in there are still people who don't think they're real.
