Yeah, that winter light! That's why I shoot birds with the 300/4 in winter. I'm actually contemplating getting the 200/2.8L II. A very good lens, weighs nothing, takes a TC well and can be had for no more than 750 euro.

Levina, I just love my 70-200 f/2.8 - it's my most-used lens. I'm sure the prime will be excellent and lighter. It will be a great addition to your lens collection!

I sold my 70-200 2.8 for a 200 f/2.8L II. Good move for me.

Oh, that's too bad and I bet they have plenty advertising. I also get a bye-line which, I notice, you didn't get. They do that on all the papers here. BTW I didn't get paid much (£25) but it's a start and pays my fuel and lunch!

it's no biggie really, i don't need the fame or fortune and we're guaranteed a write up every week. i would recommend a lens over 300mm for sport though, i have a 300 f2.8 and can't remember the last time it didn't have a 1.4x converter on it.
just thought, keep your receipts and once you have enough you can apply to shoot at murrayfield
