Tamron 70-200 2.8 VC G2

Has anyone been able to check the focus breathing on this new lens? The previous model wasn't actually 200mm in real world use, has then one corrected that?

horrible.. just pathetic... send it to me... ill take it off your hands. you obviously have some serious noise issues. glittering white.. that is such a shame as I had so much hope for this lens...

I hope to be able to get some portraits of my son this weekend (if he's willing). Otherwise I'll do my best to photograph some random objects in and around NYC plus elsewhere this weekend.

I so wanted this lens.. maybe in the future.. I just got a smoking deal on a clean G1 if that's what we will call it... hah...

Actually I had the previous version and one of the first things I noticed was that it didn't feel like it went to 200. After some testing found it didn't, so I'm not parroting anything, speaking from actual experience (which is why I said "in real world use"). Although I liked the lens, I wanted an actual 200mm from it, I guess I'm just a weirdo like that, speaking about stuff I have had actual experience with LOL.

And for what it's worth, at MFD, the G2 is improved over the last VC version. It does however have the closest MFD of any 70-200mm made, so even though you aren't out at 200mm (none of them are) it can get you close with it's MFD. It Also beats SIGMA by a good deal. It is behind the latest Canon and Nikon in this regard however. But it beats the older VRII and version 1 L IS.

I guess if you are in the real world and thinking every time you take a shot..Oh man am I actually at 200mm. I cant adjust myself just a little bit to compensate for any minor focus breathing at the very MFD thats just way to hard what am I going to do. then dont buy this lens.

Incredible VC. Both at 200mm

One at a normal shutter speed.

Last one, he was being impatient with me.

So with 15% off refurbished, the Canon version is $1427. I was planning to give the Tamron a little more time on the market then likely buy one but now I'm torn.
