Portraits I do...and hope to do more..and the whole trip to Texas is to spend time with family as we say our final goodbyes to one of my dad's brothers...lots of people pictures...and a shoot with a family to update their family portrait on the way out of town...so...the GM is moving to the top of the list...and Uncle Sam just had to cut a big fat check... It's either shell out for the Sony or really shell out for the Canon. Can't quite make up my mind. VanillaImaging.com

Mar 12, 2017 20:39 | #31178 Enjoying my second go with the A7R ii. I just ordered the Sigma Art 35mm. Likely going to return the FE 50 1.8 after I get it. I really like landscapes with this camera. Looking forward to spending more time with it. I was really torn between the Batis 25 and the Sigma but the native function with the MC-11 and the ability to use it on my 5D4 made the Sigma an easy choice. Canon EOS M6 Mark II - EOS R5

Excellent photos by the way... Thanks! It's turned out to be the ideal portrait lens for me and has never really let me. Bokeh and rendering make for very pleasing portraits, and its really sharp wide open to boot. David Arbogast wrote in post #18299137 If I were a portrait guy, I'd go straight to GM. Having owned both the GM and the Batis, the big differences between the two are largely subjective and dependent on what you shoot. The batis 85 definitely has a 'punchier' or contrasty look, but the flatter rendering and muted SOOC colors of the GM are what lend to the character they have for portraits. focalpointsphoto.com

I'm starting to settle on liking the GM lenses for posed portraits, and Zeiss rendering for landscapes and documentary type shots. I've always appreciated your take on that and it bears out in what I see. David | Flickr
