A couple shots from a wedding I shot y'day.

Mix of the 85GM and the 70-200GM

The rendering of that GM is smooth and buttery...I was gonna rent the B85 for my Texas trip...think I am gonna swap it for the GM...bad feeling I will end up wanting one..

Excellent photos by the way...

If I were a portrait guy, I'd go straight to GM. And the new FE 85mm 1.8 looks so good that it's may kill Batis sales. Only thing the Batis offers is less CA, from what I can see.

That said I am reasonably happy with my Batis.

Portraits I do...and hope to do more..and the whole trip to Texas is to spend time with family as we say our final goodbyes to one of my dad's brothers...lots of people pictures...and a shoot with a family to update their family portrait on the way out of town...so...the GM is moving to the top of the list...and Uncle Sam just had to cut a big fat check...:-D

And of course, the FE 85 f1.4 GM is good for all kinds of "portraits"...

All shot with the Canon 24-70. Contemplating picking up the Sony 16-35 before our summer trip to Yellowstone. Anyone here using it? It's either shell out for the Sony or really shell out for the Canon. Can't quite make up my mind.

Enjoying my second go with the A7R ii. I just ordered the Sigma Art 35mm. Likely going to return the FE 50 1.8 after I get it. I really like landscapes with this camera. Looking forward to spending more time with it. I was really torn between the Batis 25 and the Sigma but the native function with the MC-11 and the ability to use it on my 5D4 made the Sigma an easy choice.

Anyone have samples of a A7 + 100mm F2?

Would love to see some samples(any brand), even some at F2.8

Thanks!

Here's a new photo of my Navy coffee cup. I got it in Yokosuka, Japan in 1966. It's been dropped and broken but I've managed to put it back together again...mostly.

Thanks! It's turned out to be the ideal portrait lens for me and has never really let me. Bokeh and rendering make for very pleasing portraits, and its really sharp wide open to boot.

Having owned both the GM and the Batis, the big differences between the two are largely subjective and dependent on what you shoot. The batis 85 definitely has a 'punchier' or contrasty look, but the flatter rendering and muted SOOC colors of the GM are what lend to the character they have for portraits.

I'm starting to settle on liking the GM lenses for posed portraits, and Zeiss rendering for landscapes and documentary type shots.

great "simple" pic but the history in that cup must be amazing.

Thanks. Hard to believe it's been more than 50 years since I got that cup. It is full of memories, regardless of how many cracks it has.

I've always appreciated your take on that and it bears out in what I see.
