I got a chance to photograph this wonderful and creative model out in the desert. I have received a lot of positive feedback, including from the model herself, but a lot of negative criticism as well. People either love or hate these shots.

I thought I would post these here and get some more opinions.

Note that I did not saturate her irises, she is wearing special contacts, and I tried to leave the color as accurate as possible.

I honestly cannot see what there is to criticise about these pictures, there is good separation between the model and background which is nicely out of focus, skin tones are pleasing, the model is very pretty, I would be well pleased if these were mine.

I like the images. And with the model as she his I can understand the slightly darker exposure. I am curious to what another 1/2-1 stop of brightness would do though.

Love it. I would have liked to see more eye catchlight to maximize her eyes. Nice stuff.

..... but a lot of negative criticism as well...

Huh... What'd they have to say? I mean, if the only comment is on the placement of the horizon, then whatever.
I like the 3rd - lot of emotion in that image.

Thanks, everyone.

I got comments about my use of landscape orientation. I was going to dismiss it, but it came from two different sources. I thought it added context, but people said the crop was bad (on the first two)

Also, several comments about the irises, even though I explained it wasn't me, it was the model's contacts.

And some other nit-picking, so thank you everyone for restoring my sanity. I really dig these shots.

But, that said, I never want to love my work so much I'm blind to it's faults.

Personally, I really dig your shots but can't stand your models choice in contact lenses. Obviously that's no slight on yourself. :D

I like the second. I don't care for the model or her accouterments at all but your technique is top shelf.

Just remember that in the end, only you and the model count as far as opinions go. It's subjective for everyone else. I don't care of the contacts but, as already mentioned, more of a catchlight might help there. Otherwise, I love them.

I'm a little late to the game here, but I must say...The colors are amazing especially with the day being overcast.
