few snaps from this morning ~

Hey - those who have a Sigma 1.4 extender - can you please link to it on amazon or B&H please.... I see there are a few to choose from.

Will not get one for a few months but will decide whether to get a Sigma or Canon... thank-you ~

Will, You need the Sigma TC-1401. If you have updated the latest lens firmware only this TC will work properly I believe.

At the park today I found myself using a lens not designed for sports with a body not designed for sports shooting...well...sports. A group of guys had gathered to play cricket, not something you see every day in Nebraska. I figured I'd see what it was all about. Here are a few shots.

And do not forget you can now shoot at ISO up to 6400 with ease knowing a good noise reduction like Neatimage or Nik-dfine will easily remove it. Handy to know if you need high shutter speeds for bif in not so good light buddy :) exposing to the right 1/3 will help too at high ISO.

Just read this review for the Sigma 1401 - he is using our lens with the 5D4 and he wrote quite a fair comprehensive review that I would appreciate you Sigma 1401 owners to please comment on if you agree with his assessment or not.

https://www.amazon.ca …_acr_txt?showViewpoints=1 (external link)

He lists many pros and many cons but basically he is saying that it is rare you can autofocus past our 400mm unless you have good contrast and good light.

So he argues if there are so few opportunities he can autofocus past 400mm - "using a lens that goes up to 600mm" then what is the point of owning this TC?

I myself am not expecting to track BIF with the TC, but being able to autofocus on moving subjects is important, I figured...

Hoping you owners can chime in...

And does anyone use the Canon 1.4 TC with this lens and if so - how does it do?

Thank-you

Will

Yes I am not afraid of high ISO as long as my shots are done in fair conditions. I can now use EC in M mode if the need arises.

Absolute RUBBISH i get auto focus in rubbish light at 840mm no problem. I just set the distance limiter to what i see fit regarding subject distances, I always laugh when i read these tests and comments lol. Saying it can not focus properly past 400 is imho laughable either that or i have the only siggy that performs well with the converter at 840mm and i doubt that very much. Songbirds are constantly moving and look how sharp my shots have been at 840mm.

That is an encouraging testament Mark

So by the above you mean set it in the usb dock I presume, can you give more info of an example what you set, when time permits please?

Do you mean setting the focus range between say 350 to 600mm?

Thank-you ~

Bah hah - I have not looked at those switches in over a year and a half since I placed clear tape over it all - because some switches would move as it brushed against my body while walking, etc

Thanks for the 'reminder'
