Nice. The f/2.8 G Master? Did you buy or just renting the A7Rii? (either way, 30-day return policies are very nice - that's how I took an extended test drive of the 5D4, with very high hopes that didn't pan out)

I bought the body and I'm renting the lens. So far after a couple of test shots wide-open I'm not overly impressed with how sharp it is, or isn't but I have it for the whole weekend and I'm gonna shoot it as much as possible. They also have an adapter for my art series lenses so I might just stick with that adapter and keep my 24 in my 50 mm lenses and just work towards the G series 85mm for portraits

I actually haven't purchased any of the Sony zooms for that reason. I've not come across many reviews where the people were actually impressed with the sharpness. Since I don't use it for action, I can live with the slowish AF of adapted lenses.

Yeah I don't need fast auto focus either. I normally shoot prime is for this reason but I figured since I was selling everything and getting made of lenses I would give this a try for the weekend. I'm going to shoot more portrait work with it over the weekend and see how I feel. It would honestly just be for family sessions and stuff instead of having to swap from prime to prime so yeah. I really do want to get the adapter so I could use my art series lenses though but if I do that I won't be getting this 24 to 70 so I've got some contemplating to do

try the 85GM, very impressive if portraits are your thing. Very sharp with very smooth bokeh.

Nick,

I am in a similar boat but I have all Canon glass. I wish I had all the Sigma Art glass now! For now, I am keeping all my current stuff (except the M3 in my sig) and just going to fly with what I've got on the A7Rii. I just got my 35A with MC-11 today and can confirm all of the native focus works. There are still use cases for both cameras, which I think has been discussed. So I'm not currently planning to sell my 5D4. I think the 2 can live in harmony. I do wish I had the Art glass instead of all this Canon glass. I think my Canon zooms will adapt ok, but I wish I had the Art 50, 85 and soon 135. I may still eventually. Maybe not the 85 though as that may be detrimental to my marriage as she got that for my 40th birthday last year.

Semi-related question, since I am in the early stages of a similar decision . . .

I have a Rovelight 600B, and 5 Godox 860's. I have been using the Yongnuo 622C-XC and 622C's for flash control. What type of flash radio controllers would I need to continue to use my flashes with the Sony A7RII?

xplor 600, I ditched the RL, it was too cumbersome. Xplor 600, x1s transmitter, extension heads.... golden. Yongnuo's do work, but cumbersome fiddling with settings, so switched all to flashpoint aka godox.

edit: it flashpoint does full ttl and hss seamlessly.

yeah I definitely love my Art series stuff and would love to keep supporting them.

As much as I wanna change over to sony lenses I think I may keep my art series and continue to buy them purely because I wanna get an old school 5DC and use that when I wanna have fun or teach my wife.
