There was a guy in the for sale section looking to trade his 600 for a 500. I don't know if it's still there.

Thanks for the heads up but my 500 is a Ver I, trading a 600 II for it isn't likely. But it's nice to dream :)

Thanks very much. I'm 60 and still have no trouble hand holding the 500 and MK IV, hopefully I'll have many more years of being able to enjoy this gear. I guess that qualifies as old but I try not to think that way. I count my blessings and make the most of each day I'm vertical.

60 is the new 40 so your good.

One of the guys I go shooting with locally has the 500 version 1 on a 1DX (model 1), a great lens but also fairly bulky and heavy. He gets great results with that combo. I got to use a 500 version 2 in Costa Rica (my guide had one) and it was still heavy and large but less so than version 1!!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Yeah, I believe he's looking for a ver 2.

Yeah, I think you are referring to Jim Little. I thought long and hard about it because he wanted to do a local deal and he's an Oregonian like me but at the end of the day, I can handhold my 500 II without too much trouble even on long hikes, but the 600 II would definitely have been a lot harder to lug around. The 500 II for me is in that sweet spot of reach and hand holdability.

I took a bunch of pictures of Puffin in Alaska a couple of summers ago and just realized that I still hadn't opened about half of them...until today!

Beautiful! I've never seen a horned puffin before, only tufted puffins.

Glad you decided to open up the folder. Those are some cool looking birds, and shots. I hope to get a chance to photograph them some day.
