I Love this time of year! I live around orchards so we have had a month of blooming walnut, almond, peach & nectarine tree and now that they have all turned green, the oranges and lemons are coming into bloom. You haven't lived if you haven't driven by miles of citrus trees in bloom....it is HEAVEN.

Car: Pink & green are two of my favorite colors combinations so this is very pleasing to me. I can almost see the wind blowing through those flowers.
Jim: I love the color palette....are these growing along the roadside or on a hill? Nice.
Hogan: Nothing makes you feel like winter is on the way out like a fresh, new bloom. I love crocus flowers.
Trumper: I love this! The hanging blooms look like what I see here in farmland.... very pretty.
Teekay: I love the vibrant color popping off the stark land & rocks. the contrast of it is very pleasing to the eye.
OhLook: The poppies are a dead giveaway to California. They show up in yards, on school fields and right now the hillsides are ablaze with them. I think the fence is a detractor, though.

Winners
1st- Teekay
2nd- Trumper
3rd- Carolyn

POTN G-series Speed Challenge #630 -Wildflowers

Springtime is here and our hills and roadsides are teaming with color. Here in California we are having a Super Bloom of our native wildflower, the poppy. It is accompanied by lupine, blue dick and yellow ragweed and it just beautiful. I don't want to see picked or cut flowers but out in nature although they can be from your yard and neighborhood if they are wild.

Winners posted at the top.

I took these pictures last week out in the high desert. It wasn't quite peak bloom then but I hear it is now. Never the less, it was stunning and those hills were harder to climb than they looked. Puff puff.

Too early here for anything but a few lone crocuses and snowdrops that appeared a few days ago amid the lingering patches of snow. I got I got lucky at the last minute and found one just outside the front door, not really thinking my entry would win, but thanks, Maureen! You captured beautiful colours in California - a pity you couldn't have entered.;-)a-

I'll try and dream up a new challenge by tomorrow morning.

Congratulations to teekay, Trumpeter, and Car. I entered a photo without fear of winning. My shot didn't show the poppies well, I know. It just shows how they've turned up all over. The location is a vacant commercial lot where a gas station was torn down.

On a side note.... I will not be entering the challenges for the next 2 weeks. We are off to Amsterdam & Belgium in a few days and will be back on the 13th. I will peek in as time permits but I hope to be busy and drop from exhaustion at the end of each day there. ;-)a

Thanks, Teekay! These were taken with my 5DMK4 so they wouldn't have qualified anyways.

Congratulations to the winners:-). Spring is most definitely in the air! I loved teekay's photo...a clear winner. Thanks, Mo a fun contest and well judged.

My shot was on a roadside in Illinois leading into a park area I mate last year.
