Well I talked to Canon today..... they said they found nothing wrong with the camera even though they admit the photo samples I sent from 4 different lenses did not look in focus. In the end, they are refusing to give me a new camera body or refund my money. They did insinuate I did not know how to use the camera. I reminded them I have owned a 5D, a 5D2, two 5D3s plus several other high end Canon bodies over the past 16 years & never had any problems with them.

So any suggestions on what to do next? I have spoken twice with a high end Canon Executive.

Did you send them at least one of your lenses so they could replicate the problem?

Praktica BC1 -> Praktica BX20 -> EOS 100 -> ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... 5Dii->100D ->5Div

(all 3 DSLRs still in use)

Game of two halves with a long, long break.

Mine too. The battery is charging as we speak. I went the following route: 350D, 400D, 40D, 7D, 5D MKIII and now the MKIV.

Lets see:

Samsung Film cam, Canon Rebel 35mm film, Speed Grafix 4x5,, Sony F707 (first digital 2001), Canon 20d, 5d, 5dII, 5dIII + 70d, 5d MKIV + Rode Stereo Vid Mic Pro (totally worth it!!!).

By the way, those interested in using the 4k video + external mic, here's a quick clip with the Rode Stereo V Mic Pro. Keep in mind this is hand held plus 1.4xIII + youtubes Image Stablelization. Will go back and reshoot on tripod in better light!

In my current possession is a 5D3, 5DSR, 5D4.

On a side note does anybody else notice that when in AV mode it underexposes by about a half stop?

As a 7Dii user I am trying to get the hang of BIF with this body. It is different and has a learning curve. Same for getting what I want in focus. Today was definitely better. When focus locks correctly, the IQ is really great. So I am getting there, but still have a large number of missed shots.

This one is a marked improvement from previous efforts, still working at it, not there yet. It was overexposed quite a bit, was concentrating on flight and not exposure here!!!! The local white ibis are in their best (red) breeding colors and are quite cool looking.

Out of 764 images shot with the 5D IV, this one came out like this.... hoping it is not a sensor error. :/

Typically a transfer error from the SD.... this is typical of a memory card read/write fault.

No, although it was discussed. After 3 trip into the shop they finally got it squared away.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Great shots! I wish I could get closer - my tufted puffin shots were from a long ways off at Haystack Rock on the Oregon Coast, where they have their nests in burrows.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
