This past weekend I shot a portrait session in Houston of my niece. She wanted some portraits for graduating pharmacy school from Texas A&M. I am by no means a portrait shooter so here is the first image I edited. The location was just beautiful at Hermann Park and the Japanese garden. Huge thanks to Carlo for loaning me his 85 GM lens! I didn't even use my other lenses for the shoot. The 85 GM is just excellent. Thank you Carlo. That lens is a workhorse like you mentioned.

My niece does have her left eye a bit smaller than her right. I think many of us have that. It's fairly normal. I considered opening up the eye in PS CC but am not sure if I should.

Nice work Alfredo! Glad the 85GM worked out for you and very nice to meet you in person...albeit very briefly!

I wouldn't do too much to 'fix' her eyes, as that is a natural characteristic of her face, and the purpose of the photo is more to document a special time in her life, than to trying to glam her up for the sake of the photo itself. She looks good the way she is :-)

Carlo, it was very nice to meet you in person. Next time I'm in town, we should visit a bit longer.

Thank you for your feedback! Yes these images are to document this major milestone in her life. She graduates in May. I showed her the image before I processed anymore. She laughed at her eye but absolutely loved the image and can't wait to see the rest. She said I could correct it.

^Agree.

Thank you Vinz! You, Carlo, and the other portrait shooters here make it look so easy but shooting portraits is anything but easy.

I'm also sending her images to proof so I can just edit the ones she wants. I'm sending her 60 resized images, largely unedited through my site. This way this cuts down on having to edit a large number of images. Is that how you guys do it?

I now just ask them to pick a max of 12. Yah I also show them my pre-selected number of images. max of 40 small images. if they have facebook, you can create an album at FB and set it to only the two of you can see. I let them pick there or at dropbox.

Thanks! Irony is, I was trying to catch the sunset, but the light never happened. Afterwards I figured I'd walk around with the wide angle while the kids finished climbing around.
