First use in a portrait session. Simply didn't miss and crazy sharp. 100% crop below.

tamron released new ones designed to work with this lens. So if anything probably give the best results from them. I never owned or used any TC with my lenses. Not a big fan of them

You should try the 1.4xIII mounted to the 200/2.... It's really really good.

The older VC never worked good with any TC but not sure about this newer G2 lens. It's a nice looking lens just tired of a 3.5lb 2.8 lens

Thanks for the suggestions folks. There are 2 bags I'm looking at, the Kineses and another bag that is "custom" made.
Neither are available up here in Canada so a little cross boarder shopping trip in in the plans shortly.
Cheers.

Yup, capacitor.

I'm still waiting to see some definitive opinions on the performance of the G2 with the NEW teleconverters. I'm also wondering what people feel about the 1.4 vs 2x?

Not bad but try something irratic and/or faster like a bird and use outer points :)

no thanks. I am not a birder and there would be more user error then anything making the lens look bad.

OK, so this is a pretty basic/stupid question, but I figured I'd ask here as you seem to know how to do action shots!

I shoot with a 5dc (and sometimes a 7d) and struggle to get any action shots in focus when something is coming straight at me. I don't use any particular settings for this other than center point focus and the fastest burst rate possible and a shutter speed of 1/500 sec or faster... are there other settings I should be using to get in focus shots like yours? Thank you.

well all depends on the speed of the action. 1/500 is a little slower and you may get motion blur because of that if its really fast action. I try to be around 1/1000. The 7D should have no problems keeping up with high speed action. Shooting in AI servo and keeping that shutter speed up high. Also the longer the lens the faster the shutter speed you will need to freeze the action. You could get away with a slower shutter speed with something like a 50mm because they are not crossing through the frame as fast. but shooting at a 400mm lets say you will need much faster because of how tight the framing is and how fast the object passes through the frame.

Added to the main list.

Did you mean you were adding this to the gear list? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.
