I was wondering if anyone had one around the Indianapolis area that could let me test the magazine. All of the plastic tabs that hold the battery down have broken off, I do not know if that is the cause of the problem or the cable.

If you hear a crackling noise that is good and bad. The good is you know your cable is the problem. The bad is it is broken.
