They are a bit larger then a bean, they are fairly large now compared to moms size. I would of liked to see the little ones when they just hatched. Had to be so tiny. I would guess the top of the nest was 2" across and the 2 chicks filled all of it.

I watched for a good 5 minutes this Great Crested Grebe catch this huge perch......

it's thrashing around with it trying to drown it and swallow it. It amazes me how these birds can consume such large captures and then carry on looking for more.
