Flickr and pervs...

Recently I have decided to start posting more photos on this site (starting to lose my fear of comments!) I use flickr to host my images that I want to post here (mainly because I understand/know how to post from flickr) I am a family/senior photographer, pretty darn conservative in my posing and such. I just looked at my activity on Flickr and started looking at who was following me and faving my photos and I am just amazed at the pornography that I have found. Why are these people faving my photos? Is this common for the rest of you that use flickr? I am not a prude, to each his own, but why are there so many people faving my photos and can I stop them?

There are privacy settings that you can change for your page and for each photo.
I don't get the pervs faving my wildlife photos.

I used to get freaked out about it, but now I just don't care.

Not that anyone see's my photos on Flickr anymore. My account got switched to 'moderate' and I can no longer post to groups. :/

One thing is to try not to lump someone into a category of perversion on a photography social network.

Regardless of what kind of photography they're sharing, doing, or whatever, they can browse around and favorite good photos.

There's also a difference between pornography and tasteful nudes. But, that's another can of worms that I'll leave alone.

Bottom line is this: when you submit something to social media, it's not in your hands, and you have no control. Don't expect anything. If it's a potential problem, simply don't post it.

Maybe it's just a nice photo?

Granted maybe some people like photos because they like the subject matter, regardless of the quality of the photo.

Who knows? I don't worry much about it.

You're inferring they fav'd your photograph with the perspective of sexuality. This is your issue.

Just because people are into pornography doesn't mean they have no ability to appreciate anything tasteful..

Humans have varying levels of sexual drive, some low, some high, it doesn't make anyone neither innately evil nor good.

Obviously we will disagree on this (there is objective truth) I am just more into the thought of someone going thru all of the new post on flickr (I don't tag the photos)

I've had pervs faving my photos or even following my photostream. As was stated above, their clicking is out of our hands; our clicking, OTOH is fully in ours: I don't follow them back nor fav any of their content –even the non-sexual one—point in fact, upon happening on a pornographic photo of theirs I back out of their stream.

it means only one thing here is something in pictures attracting them. And it is not good to have pictures like this favored by strange people.
Upload with "visible only to me" visibility settings. It will be not visible on Flickr, but if you post it here it is going to be visible only here.

At this point I'm just not sure what you're still on about (or disagreeing with or saying there is objective truth about).

Flickr has a like button. If someone sees something and likes it for any reason, they might click like. You could look at the kind of work they post and usually like to try to infer why, but it's just a guess and honestly a waste of time.

The OP's concern might be much like my own: some people tend to judge you by the company you keep: in this case such 'company' are your followers or contacts. Some of us don't want to be associated with people who shoot certain subject matter: it might lead some to believe that we condone it or openly support it.

You asked for a knife and now you are wondering why it has a sharp edge. Publishing your picture openly comes with the good, bad and ugly. It has the effect that people look at them and you have no control over their personality, race, sexuality, .... If this is bugging you then choose an other outlet or don't publish your pictures.
