Welcome to the forum Nick. Tough choice on the 85.

---------------

Sorry I haven't been too active recently. Been sick for about 4 days and am finally getting better. Some nice images posted in here recently.

I was messing around with some vibrancy masking techniques in PS CC. No saturation and vibrance sliders used.

I had better light on this first shot than my second one.

Sky was very flat blue when I shot this one but the main item I wanted to pop was the coaster and its circular track.

The Zhiyun Crane came today. Here it is with the a7R II and Batis 18mm and mounted to the RRS Pocket Pod via Peak Design base plate (perfect size for the grip).

Wow, that looks awesome. You're going to have fun with that David and I can't wait to see your videos.

i've been searching, there's only one M4/3 P&S(fixed lens), the Lumix LX100. There's a Fujifilm X70 that houses an APS-C chip but the fixed lens is only 18.5mm F2.8 and no viewfinder/no IS.

I need a camera that I can bring anywhere like museums or in concerts. Any camera with interchangeable lens are considered professionals and are not allowed in many concerts.

have no idea about concerts, but have been to many museums with the 35f2.8 without issue.

at the last concert i've been, i brought my A6000+28mmF2. I had to leave it with the security and picked up after the concert. They said any interchangeable lens no matter how small are considered professional.

And yes some museums don't care. One museum allowed me to used my 5D3 before but not with a 70-200L, i had to switched to a smaller lens. So to be safe, I like to have a good quality camera with good low light capability that I can bring anywhere on family trips.

UK Robins look very different than US Robins.
I like the look of that 150-600...does it work well adapted?

just got an email from BH

On August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the sun will cross the entire continental United States. The last time this happened in the U.S. was 99 years ago, on June 8, 1918. It is an event that will attract thousands of people from all over the world. If you plan on viewing the eclipse, remember to be safe! Viewing with unprotected eyes can cause permanent damage to your vision. Regular sunglasses do not provide enough protection.
B&H is committed to providing you with great choices for your eyes and equipment. It makes no difference whether you are a casual viewer who just needs some basic solar glasses or a viewing veteran in the market for a new solar telescope–we want you to have the best experience possible for this historic event. After all, it won’t be until 2024 that you’ll get another chance.
In addition to providing Solar Eclipse 2017 viewing equipment, we put together a few helpful articles to help you prepare. For general information about the eclipse, including where the best viewing locations are, please refer to our “Mark Your Calendars: North American Solar Eclipse 2017” article. For a more detailed, scientific article, please refer to our “Solar Eclipse and Solar Eclipse Viewing 101” article. Finally, to learn about the best solar viewing products, check out our Buying Guide, where solar shades, goggles, binoculars, telescopes, filters, and other accessories are discussed.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger and get the Zeiss. I guess if I was shooting six headshot sessions a week I could justify the extra 600 but for now I think I'm going to settle for this, even though it's still a ridiculously amazing lens so it's not really settling, and get myself a little bit of lighting which I would honestly use a lot more right now.
I'm going to the store locally and if they have the G master I might get it but last time they didn't so hopefully they make my decision that much easier for me when I actually go to pull the trigger Lmao

it's not a very photogenic event. You can do the foil mirror trick. If there is partial cloud coverage, you can shoot video of the event happening without ND filters, I have video of an eclipse several years back.

from personal experience...

I had Tamron 150-600, Sigma 150-600 Sport, and now I have Sigma 150-600 C.

I would say Tamron 150-600 with metabones worked the best...

Sigma 150-600 S was a great lens, when I had it MC-11 wasn't out yet, and it didn't work all that well with metabones at that time, but it was way way to big and heavy to use handheld.

Sigma 150-600 C works well with both metabones and MC-11, but in my opinion it works better with metabones... With MC-11 it tends to do a bit micro-hunting, Metabones is faster to focus, but on rare occasion it will loose focus and has to go though the whole focus range to find it again, it helps to keep it in focus limit setting.

My sigma 150-600 C is sharper then my Tamron 150-600 v1 was, but Tamron worked better...
