I think I'm going to pull the trigger and get the Zeiss. I guess if I was shooting six headshot sessions a week I could justify the extra 600 but for now I think I'm going to settle for this, even though it's still a ridiculously amazing lens so it's not really settling, and get myself a little bit of lighting which I would honestly use a lot more right now.
I'm going to the store locally and if they have the G master I might get it but last time they didn't so hopefully they make my decision that much easier for me when I actually go to pull the trigger Lmao

you mean the 85? why even buy Zeiss? at this moment, the FE85 made the Zeiss "obsolete"

I am thinking about getting a geared head (monfrotto 410) for Macro use. I read on some reviews that some people use this type of head for Pano's and I was wondering if it would work well for that purpose? If I can get two uses out of the same tripod head that would be great. I thought I would ask what you guys use for these types of shots.

And for anyone who is looking, you can get the 410 and then add an arca adapter to avoid having to use the monfrotto quick release system (which I hate). here (external link)

UK Robins look very different than US Robins.
I like the look of that 150-600...does it work well adapted?

Yes, I would say that it works very well, in that although the MC-11 kind of 'clunks' into focus, it is dead accurate every time. I have missed very few shots with it. The 150-600 + MC-11 combo AF is probably not quite fast enough for BIF (although I haven't tried it), but fine for everything else. I find it enjoyable and satisfying to use, and am very happy with the results.

I know what you mean, some rules are just stupid...

I got turned away from a soccer games once because I had my a6300 with me.

i just ordered a silver one of the Lumix LX100. I also love that it has a filter thread. so it's going to be an all-around cam for me. it should arrive tomorrow. Can't wait. I can't post pics here though. it's totally non sony.

Imaging Resource just published the full interview with Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki. And there is good news folks: He confirmed that their FE lenses are newly designed from scratch and not some current Sigma DSLR lens recycled as E-mount. This means the lens will be optimized for Sony High Resolution cameras and possibly smaller than their DSLR lenses :)

Here is what he exactly said about that:

It’s possible to make the native E-mount [lens] using the existing glass, but all of our existing lens is not designed for mirrorless. So when you’re designing [a new lens], you can’t easily take an existing lens design [from another mount] and put a little bit deeper mount on it, so that it’s at the right distance for the Sony flange-back distance.

I really can’t wait the day they will launch ART lenses for the FF E-mount! Check out their ART lenses at: Amazon, B&H, Adorama, eBay. It’s all High Quality Glad for a relatively affordable price.

You mean the GM 85mm did? I mean the $600 difference wasn't enough for me
I'm a simple guy and don't care about any function the gmaster offers tbh. Only thing I care about is iQ and besides the bokeh (again Idc since post processing exist) they seem to be the same if not the batis being slightly sharper

Not even a full stop of light doesn't matter to me and I don't shoot full body so.

I struggled with it but for the price the batis just seemed to outshine in my situation.

I'll see tho.
Just bought it and have a headshot session tomorrow so I'll keep ya posted!

Nvm saw you meant the preorder 85mm. Sadly I need something asap. Unless it releases in the next day or two I gotta get back to shooting. Been missing out on easy money ._.

Next battle is keep my 50mm art with an adapter or get the Sony/zeiss 50mm/55mm

I like the microconrast concept (more detail in the darker spots) since I shoot really dark contrasty images?

FE85 came out last week I think. You might have to hunt for a store that has it in stock but it can be bought right now.

Makes sense
It said preorder but I'll call around

I bought the batis already but if I can find it maybe I'll try it out instead.
I'm pretty content as is. Price was tolerable.

Congrats on the purchase! Will be curious to hear your reaction to it. I have a feeling you'll love the sharpness and pop, and will be very interested to hear your thoughts on the OOF/bokeh. That's where the camps really split on this lens. For my headshot work (which is my main niche) I absolutely love it. But I do mostly indoor natural light studio work (window light), rarely ever shoot in situations like Carlo described with tons of highlights coming through tree branches.

Anyway, yeah, congrats again and keep us posted.

I would never do professional headshots in those situations either haha

But ya I'll let you know

I always shoot diffused light and indoor.

I'm definitely excited :)

What is the native ISO for the a7rII?
Like I know certain isos perform better and have less noise because of how they work (from what I've read)

I heard 100 and 640 are the two to mess with

Any thoughts? Obviously lower has less noise but ya
