Anyone use OCF?

I'm needing to get one flash setup.

I was looking into the xplor600 or maybe something a little smaller.

I don't shoot flash often but just need something for my outside work.

I have a full studio setup anytime I go to the studio.

Just need one portable one.
Honestly a nice speedlight would work

I have the yn600ex for Canon but obviously that ship sailed!!

suggestions?

HSS is needed!

I'm in the exact same boat. Personally, I'm planning on getting an AD360 and something like a RapidBox. The form factor of an oversized speedlight coupled with the light output of a mid range strobe and TTL for both Sony and Canon; it's hard to resist.

check out this Manny Ortiz test with the 100mm F2.8 STF

it's weird because.. i know the t-stop value is 5.6, it's showing as F5.6 in camera as the fastest you can go or open although the rendering looks like an F2 to me.

Dangit Manny... I had successfully convinced myself this wasn't a lens for me, because of the lower light transmission, but holy creamy background batman

That lens does some amazing things near MFD

Out of curiosity, would any one of you guys be interested in a manual focus 600mm f/4.5 lens? I've been contemplating selling my FD 600 f/4.5 for a while now. The things primary use for the past two years has been as a telescope for my kids. -?

I have that exact set-up and am really happy with it. Sometimes I still need more power outdoors though...hence me looking into the flashpoint and/or ad600

been down this path, and eventually got the nikon 600 f5.6

IBIS is not very useful at that focal length

got it for the weight savings and reported sharpness wide open

still heavy as heck and hard to hand hold

600mm is really tough to keep steady, so I got a ultra duty monopod by sirui, equivalent to gitzo 5 series.

adjustable hard stop focus setting is really nice, image quality is pretty good, havent tried AF via TAP yet. f4 vs f5.6 was the same price btw, wanted something I could hand hold, and this barely fits that criteria. I imagine f4 or f4.5 would need a monopod/tripod at all times.

I use it on a tripod with a gimbal head so no issues there. My problem is that I bought it while living next to a wetland area in Va and now I live in a desert. I've contemplated keeping it just for creative sunrise and moonrise shots, as it's already a "sunk cost", so to speak. Ultimately though, I'd like to clear the room off of my shelf. I've got a 300 2.8 so I can always crop or use a 2x TC if I need to.

gotcha, glws

btw, update on the bombo filter situation..... I got the whole system, dont know how much I'll actually use it for the 10 though, since that lens is so wide that the vignetting is really amplified due to the geometric properties. Aside from that, the bombo system is pretty darn genius. The tolerances are super tight, so you cant use gaskets and it's still able to light leak*** but not as bad as it sounds. The design is super simple so not as robust as LEE, but I cant see that being a problem either. packs much smaller than the LEE setup, and uses a slotted design instead of the LEE clamp. I'll add side by side photos later.

I shot adapted for the first 16 months of Sony ownership...then I rented a native lens and have been moving toward native ever since, the AF is much faster, works better in low light and it is one less thing to have to fiddle with in the field...

...but the 135L will go no where!:-D

True, but sigma stuff works very well ;)

My wife and I were talking about moving to someplace new. I've been yearning to move somewhere with more landscape photo opportunities. I have lived in Texas for most of my life. Oregon sounds nice. Of course any move would depend on where I can find an IT job. Anyway just thought about sharing this in case anyone has made a similar big move in their life. Would love to hear you feedback.
