I thought you already had the Xplor600? I forget what Manny and Fernando use but check out their YT channels for gear recommendations.

I have the AD360….bare bulb flash. Pretty powerful, but not powerful enough when my subject is backlit by the sun or there are hard highlights in the background from mid-day sun. Basically the shots I took y’day leave me wanting to underexpose daylight slightly so the lighting in the frame is not so harsh …meaning I’ll need to overpower it to expose my subjects while using a modifier.

Thanks Vinz. 55inch is a little too big for me, but I like that it comes with a grid. Going to see if Newer makes a smaller one.

I think you're gonna love the Xplor 600 (and I'm rather jealous you found one for that price, nice catch). I'm assuming it's not the TTL one? I splurged and got the TTL, and never use that feature, always seem to go manual.

I've been using the Glow Parapop 38, not cheap, and I love how quick it sets up, but honestly wish I had something bigger in bowens mount softbox. I've got softboxes coming out my ears in balcar mount. My old PCB 86" PLM works when I want huge light, just stuck in the umbrella mount hole, but I'm out of luck at the moment if I want something huge but more controlled on the Xplor.

Granted, I don't use the Xplor all the time, but I've been floored by the battery life on that thing. I charged it up when I first got it, have used it for maybe 4 or 5 shoots, and it never seems to lose any bars on the battery indicator. Was still showing all bars the last time I looked. Actually starting to wonder if the indicator maybe isn't working, haha. (i so love not having to deal with power cords and extension cables in the studio)

I got the TTL one. I was kicking myself for missing that deal on these last year so happy that I snagged one for a good price finally. I never use TTL indoors but lean on it outdoors when the lighting is constantly changing.

The glow parapop looks nice. I might hold off on the modifier for now. My westcott Apollo should work since it's an umbrella type modifier. One of the rods broke but it still holds it's shape.

I find they look great! I like the one in the top left corner. Cool shots, flaring resistence is also top notch!

thanks, it's considered one of the weaker areas for this lens, but I think it's still ok

Did a cool ride out in the Owyhee Canyonlands yesterday. Many consider this to be the most remote regions in the lower 48. Access to the Owyhee front about an hour south of Boise in the Snake River valley. It's great in the early spring, before the rattlesnakes come out! Although the light was pretty flat for photography I had no issue taking the a6500 plus 12 and 24mm's. See my flickr and/or a6500 thread if interested in a few more shots.

I left the lens home last night, due to weight concerns..... damned if I bring it for the weight, instant regret when I start shooting
