If you put this shot up for C&C, I think that there are people on this site who would provide you with really helpful advice on ways of tackling it that could have made for a much better image.

Does anyone remember Buick Grand Nationals? My wife and I took delivery of ours April 9, 1987. Today is its 30th birthday! We ordered it in November, 1986, but it took 5 months before we got it. Ours is still all original and has less than 15,000 miles. We've enjoyed it very much, and still take it to occasional car shows. Since we're both in our 60s, it's not likely we'll have it 30 more years, but 20 is possible. :-)

QUOTED IMAGE

:-)

Stirs up memories of the sounds of a drag strip, and good ole American V8 sound.

Regards,
Steve

Buick had V8s at the time, but the Grand Nationals did indeed have turbocharged, intercooled V6 engines. It was interesting to see the announcement of the Dodge Demon Challenger this morning. In 1987, the Grand National was the quickest production car produced in America when measured by the 1/4 mile. The GN did it in 14.2 seconds with an end speed of about 100 MPH. It was quicker than Corvettes, 5.0 liter Mustangs, and everything else produced in the USA.

The Demon (now the quickest production car in America) does the 1/4 mile in 9.65 seconds with an end speed of about 140 MPH. To put that in perspective, when the Demon finishes, the Grand National would only be about 1/2 way down the track. That's a lot of progress in 30 years!

I read the article about the Demon this morning. It's amazing what has happened since the HP wars have started back up. Really it has happened in less than 30 years. Think back to the C4 vette, which was a dog. They (and everyone else) changed the HP stance in the mid 90's or so. All the sudden you had 300 hp autos again. So in 20ish years we have gone from "WOW, you have 300hp in that?!?" to "oh, 300hp...what do you have a family sedan?"

No flash and seriously backlit. The amount of shadow recovery available with this sensor is amazing.

Well after 4 months of winter ( I hate fall camera releases) birds are coming back and I finally got a chance to test out the 5D4 for BIF. Based on other assessments I think it is about 1 second slower to acquire AF compared to the 7D2 but I did shoot with a TC all day so I'm not sure if that had any effect. I'd say it did the job. Not sure which cam to use now -?
