Sorry if this isn't a pic with the 24 Pancake, but it is a pic of the 24 with a wide angle hood on it. Only problem you can't have the lens cap on with it, but I liked the protection this one gave. Now to test it out.

This lens is on my want list - love the compact size for a pocket... just wish there was a 20 or 18mm STM... likely one day...

Anyways, looking for deals or used...

Can someone post a link to a 3rd party hood for this lens please?

Not seeing much info if it is a screw-on type or not.

Thank-you

After using this lens a bit I have to say its probably the best walkaround on a crop that I've seen in terms of price, size, versatility.

Not meaning to start an argument here, but I find that any zoom would be more versatile than a prime any day of the week (quite objectively so), and price/size would be subjective measures. IMHO the price/size/versatility prize for a crop walkaround should go to the 15-85. But then that would be a subject for another thread.

I'll add that, although I don't want to take away anything from the 24 STM in terms of its qualities, as I thought much in that same way when I decided to get it, I haven't actually used it much since, as it's been overshadowed by other lenses in my kit.

By suggesting the 15-85 your ignoring two mean points that I was basing this on (size and price) and simply going by versatility. If that's the case I can open it up to a ton of lenses. This lens drastically reduces the camera size.

The Siggy 150-600 sits on my body 80+% of the time and I look forward to this 24stm lens being readily available in my front left pocket for my early dawn weekend shots.

Which reminds me - do you owners typically wear a hood with this lens?

Pretty sure you can't wear a hood and the cap at the same time - but if you can - please point to it at Amazon.com or where ever because I want that hood.

Thank-you,

This is the one I have: https://www.bhphotovideo.com …for.html/pageID/accessory (external link)

You can put the caps on it, though the hood itself will protect the glass in 99% of situations.
