Same here. I went away to Canada for a week with the Boy Scouts and when I came back I found that the squirrel had been chased by my grandfather's dog, and that was the last time it ever came back to people. It used to sit on my shoulder when I rode my bicycle. Someone told the local news folks, so they came and took a photo with it on my shoulder. The story made it to the local paper. I was 15 at the time.

We have loads of grey squirrels living in the woods behind our house so I'm fortunate to have plenty of opportunities to photograph them. Here's two of my favorites.

She prefers 'seasoned' acorns. I saw her bury one acorn, then hop about 3 feet away and dig up another one, then raced up the tree, to eat the older one.

Watching people watching them.

My niece sent this to me, and I asked if I could post it on here.... This is cuter than the ones I took of the squirrel in my tree.

A movement outside my kitchen window at 10:15 pm last night caught my attention. This flying squirrel is the first I've ever seen. Taken at ISO 25,600 with a flashlight through the kitchen window at 1000 mm on a kitchen tripod.
