I just got back from Vegas and though I dragged most of my equipment with me, I had the same problem as I do when at home: just plain lazy. So I didn't shoot much, but I did manage to get a couple of shots that I like:

so for all the beautiful evening shots are you guys packing tripods down there with you as well or hand holding/ finding somewhere to support the camera? I am headed there January 2 and would love to snap some shots but don't want the camera to be a hassle the whole time im there

You can take a full sized tripod but you may run into some.....resistance...from certain hotels or even the police.

Certain hotels have the idea that if you're using a tripod then you're a professional, therefore you're going to make money off of pictures taken on their property. The Luxor used to be really bad in this regard. The Police might ask you not to use a tripod on the street as it can be a trip hazard.

I use a mini Manfrotto....fits in the bag, quick set up, quick exit.

Remember what the DorMouse said.....feed your head.

The only place I ran into resistance with my tripod was at the Stratosphere. The first time I had a full sized one and they wouldn't let me bring it up to the top. The time after that I had a joby mini tripod and they still wouldn't allow it.:-( I was however able to use my full sized tripod outside of the Bellagio without any problems.

Here are two I took at the Palazzo Resort, both with my 70D and Rokinon 8mm fisheye. I "defished" the first one using DxO software. The second I left as-is. Curiously, the forum metadata reports the aperture as f/256. The Rokinon does not report its aperture to the camera; it shows as f/0.0 on the camera and in the EXIF data.

I live in this city now, there's so much to it!

Was going to start/ask to start a thread like the "All around NYC" thread, but thought I'd post here instead.

Since most of these are the strip and everyone seems to forget about downtown...

Went to Vegas again, tried a different view of the Forum Shops. Though the crop isn't very good, I like the overall look. All PP was done globally, i.e., no masks or brushes. As usual, looks much better full size. Shot with a Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical III, I didn't see it on the gear list.
