Took the 70D for a walk today - first time I think since I got the M5. Put the Canon 24 IS USM f/2.8, so wouldn't notice too much weight difference.

We've just had another "weather event" - they seem to be happening rather often in the last few years. The ground was already sodden from unusual heavy autumn rain, when ex cyclone Cook swept through. We weren't meant to be affected but it veered east, and the rain and mainly the wind wreaked havoc in some areas. Thousands were without power, and some people still are. It happened Thursday, and luckily was over and done with quickly for most of us. I was well prepared, but power didn't go off and no damage to anything, but the noise of the wind was scary.

I personally think gum trees are too brittle, and therefore susceptible to the wind - not really suitable for NZ for that reason. I had those here taken out when I first moved.

Ground so waterlogged that shallow rooting trees blown over:

Rose, is that the really old lens from the late 80's? Seems to be a lot of CA in the photos...

A handful from the beach today, including an ultra rare shot of our daughter, she used to love being in front of the camera years ago -?

I have never had any issues with carrying on Camera gear with batteries on US flights. Plus laptops have much larger lithium batteries than cameras so unless your carrying on giant box of batteries you should be fine.

Thanks for the information. I am traveling to customer location which is 100mil from Nashville. Lot of sceneries with green fields. I am going to try squeeze 70d in my bag during next week travel.
