One from last night. Was bored as anything and hooked up my 7D to my laptop using EOS utility.

You're going to have to get your user-name changed. ;-)a

(There's a strong magenta colour cast. It should be easy to fix.)

Indeed, I think I need to!

I was going for that look but perhaps over-did it I think. Have hopefully restored it a bit.

Selfie with a Sigma 24-105 F4 OS @ 105mm / F 6.3 and with a 600EX-rt in the hot-shoe bounced straight up off a white ceiling and triggered by another 600EX-rt I'm holding in my hand
- I am looking at windows in my apartment, which you can see in my eyes, thus keeping the pupil small
- I set ambient ISO to -1EV
- Set FEC to ETTL +1EV for bouncing
- the handheld flash was set at -2EV (ETTL) and was aimed at a small white umbrella turned upside down on the floor in front of me for fill
- camera was set to use all AF pts and auto-focused on whatever it chose

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Hard to believe but this is the first time I've tried this effect. Better late than never I suppose.

Gave it another try - the end of winter black hat selfie.

Canon 5DSR with Sigma 105 F4 @ 105mm, F8, 1/60th - metered to ISO 250 for -1EV
- camera 3 feet in front of me - all AF pts active with camera choosing active AF pt
- sitting in front of and facing windows (keeps pupils small)
- 600EX-rt hotshoe flash - bounced up to white ceiling using ETTL and 0EV
- 600EX-rt behind me at 1/2 power making white background blow out
- 600EX-rt hair/hat light, camera left at ETTL -2EV
- holding gold reflector in front of me for fill catching hot-shoe flash bounced off ceiling
- left hand is holding 4th 600EX-rt to remotely trigger camera (REL button on flash)

One last shot at this selfie thing (1/80, F6.3, ISO 250 @ 59mm)

This time I switched cameras to the A7Rii with a Canon 24-70 F2.8 II
- wasn't able to trigger the camera with either my traditional 600EX-rt in hand or connecting the Camera to LR with tethering - neither worked
- so, I used my cell phone with the SR App and was holding the cell phone in my hand as well as using it to line myself up (which was very helpful)
- set the WB to create a bluish tone and used two Ice Lights (one above and one below the face) as well as lots of window light
- catch light in my eyes is the large window I'm facing

Originally done in black and white, here is a color version of a 'selfie'. Lighting was a Nissin Di700A off camera in a 24" softbox located above me as the only source of light.

I've always been fascinated with the violin. Unfortunately I'm not coordinated enough. I think I'd end up sounding like a screeching banshee.

It's never too late to start :-) My oldest student was in her 80's. It really comes down to natural talent and effort. Some people are naturally gifted and may not even be aware of it. Also if you enjoy it then that's really the only thing that matters :-)

It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.
