Very good Rob. Looks like a Mangrove Hawk ???

I thought the Common Black and Mangrove are the same ? A mangrove is not listed in the Birds of Costa Rica ID book at all.

Thanks, Pagman.

I prefer to be in the bush with the animals than a crowded city.

I am so fortunate today to of seen Crossbills, very difficult to see in the UK. They were on Exmoor, Devon.

I am so thrilled....:-)

What amazes me with these lovely birds is that I saw a total of 8, yet they were all different colours, because I know so little about them I am not sure at this stage which ones are males and which ones are females. They resemble small parrots in a way. They were very high up in a Cone tree and would come down to a muddy puddle to have a quick drink. They would stay no more than 15seconds at the puddle and then would disappear. Very shy indeed.

Such beautiful colours, they were that colourful I had to reduce the saturation considerably.
