Are you seeing a lot of LED's lately in concert halls? They were almost non-existent in theatre a few years ago, and now they've just exploded in popularity. I hate them with a passion

I think they're there, but I don't really notice them because I shoot the 5DIV and use the light cycle peak option. I have yet to use the Fujifilm XT2 for silent shooting ironically as I prefer the 5DIV + 200mm f/2L IS and 300mm f/2.8L IS II lenses over the 50-140mm f/2.8.

I don't notice them on the A7Rii either, when using the physical shutter. At least, no banding. That only happens in silent mode. To my eye though, there's just a general quality of light that is different. Colors look much crappier. (And I spent a couple weeks shooting the 5D4 and A7Rii side by side - the LED's looked equally crappy, color-wise, on both - haha)

I'm very jealous of your 200 f/2. That thing is a beast

Yeah, I'm not sure what LED's our particular concert hall is using. I think it's outfitted similarly to Walt Disney Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall, so probably the same as whatever they're using. With top of light peak cycle and AWB-W enabled, I prefer the 5DIV and 1DXII colors to Fujifilm indoors. I don't get the hype for Fuji colors, at least indoors.

Haha, yeah it inspires me work out more at the gym. The 35mm f/1.4L II is just as dope too if you get a chance to try it. I'm waiting for the 85mm f/1.4L IS with the same build and tech (they literally built the 35LII with similar supertelephoto construction as the 300mm f/2.8L IS II)

Panning subjects (usually motor vehicles) in bright sunlight is an easy example (shutter speed down below 1/100s but still plenty fast enough to allow 20fps if the camera is capable of it). Plenty of motorsport shooters out there who will all take a lot of panning shots at every event they cover. Having a frame rate that high would be fantastic for that I think.

It's pretty handholdable. Just not a mirrorless setup. The bokeh is beast though. Could have some better contrast, autofocus, more weight reduction and newer white paint though.

Well then RAW shooters might as well just stick with their 1D series Canons and equivalent Nikons, if speed is what matters. But I though that 20 FPS and a huge buffer was the whole point of this A9.

I just don't get it - it's like there is this "shocking announcement" about 20 FPS and a few hundred shots in a burst . . . . . but there seem to be so many exceptions to those figures that in real-world usage it won't deliver those specs to those who need them the most.

what's the point of the excellent EXMOR sensor if you limit it to 12 bit?

What frame rate can it manage at 14bit? If it's more than 10fps, it's still very, very good IMO

You need the mechanical shutter for the second curtain, so 5fps

Nevermind, I take that back. With any of the previous A7, 14 bit only comes in single shot. Even bulb was 12 bit. I'm assuming that's unchanged

Not sure how accurate this site is but it states 12 fps is the limit for 14 bit uncompressed raw files (with electronic shutter). Still pretty decent

10 fps refers to with an A-mount lens and an adapter. I don't believe that is the case with e-mount lenses... and as long as aperture is larger than f11, it will AF track.

No you can shoot 20fps in raw not 12.

1. So to still any doubts, "The continuous shooting speed goes up to 20fps with full sized RAW images and AF/AE Tracking."
   
2. But OTOH, "Be aware that the speed is capped at 12fps if you shoot 14-bit uncompressed RAW files."
   
3. And the 120 fps EVF rate is, when simply viewing and not shooting, because "the refresh rate goes up to 120fps (but drops to 60fps during continuous shooting)"
