Thanks for all the kind comments.
The shot was taken on a recent trip to Svalbard (an archipelago in the Arctic Circle). I've been there once before on a ship, but this time it was a land-based trip using skidoos for transport. We were averaging 150+ miles a day, and the conditions were brutal at times, so it was hard going. The main target was obviously Polar Bears, but there is an unusually large amount of sea ice this year so the bears were spread out over a vast area, and we only had one brief encounter.
There's lots of other wildlife though and we saw quite a few foxes. This particular one was at Pyramiden, which is an abandoned Russian mining town. (A skeleton staff of around 5 people still live there to maintain Russia's claim on the territory). He/she was really inquisitive and came very close.
There are a few other shots from the trip in the Wildlife and Birds forums.
