My partner is a ski and bikes lady.

I am still recovering from my broken leg 10 weeks ago so I can't join her at the season opening 70km Bike Race (Paris to Ancaster Ontario)

I brought the 1DXii and the 100-400Lii - unfortunately most of the race was on private property so they didn't publish the route so most of my shots were from the start and then the finish which was up a 1km extremely steep muddy dirt road - this was a cycle-cross event.

Riders mostly road cycle-cross bikes with about 20% riding a combo of mountain bikes and some other - gearing determined, for most people, if they could climb the final hill which has a maximum steepness of 18 degrees.

A teammate of my partner's - the final hill is so steep and muddy that about 80% of the field had to dismount and walk up the last half of the hill.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

What a capture!

And its amazing how the sensor can extract a white fox from snow instead of displaying just a pair of eyes and a nose in a white frame.

Ahhhhh the beauty of this new 1Dx2 and 5D4 sensors

Going to post a couple of images here. yesterday I was shooting this shot Natural light and clouds were going in/out and creating bad shadows. The area in the lower left was completely dark and very little detail. So I turned on my ab600, shot it bare bulb as was able to get some detail in the area but still,in general, just a crapola exposure.

The beauty of the new canon sensor for the 5D4 and the 1Dx2. I knew I could shoot for highlights and take my chances in post with darks in shadows.

I pushed darks and shadows by about 4 stops and was able to fix this right in LR w/o any any loss of IQ and loss of detail in shadows and darks.

Where the new technology really comes in handy is in darker situations and in really bad contrast light like this shot. So This is what makes the 5D4 and the 1Dx2 sensor such a good reason to upgrade from a 5D2 and 5D3......5D2 Cant do this. 5D3 is a push at best

Here is the before and after with the new sensor. all done in LR...about 2-4 mins to save

This is now just a proof file that my client can make a decision about. I can make this pop on a final edit if they choose it. So glad Canon has a great sensor for us to work with
