Will,

Thank for taking the time to reply (hope others could share best practices for this lens), the haze might be the biggest impact here since I had other pictures that shown lots of atmospheric haze in the background, then add the distance and underexposure and you have an issue.

Your welcome and your shots are looking good there ~
One of the first things I heard upon getting my 150-600 was akin too... when you only had a 300mm lens - you likely cropped the heck out of many images because the subject was too far away - now that you have 600mm.... resist the temptation to keep doing the same

Have a good weekend ~

I have found many people think that with this lens they can capture birds from a lot further away but this is not the case, the benifits are you can fill more of your frame resulting in more detail.

Mark, well said, I have to agree, well, lessons learned them and I take it from here.

Exposure is my new little project, there is a lot to gain when exposure is as close as possible.

Thanks and have a nice weekend.

Went out today to a local park looking for an owl, did not find any :-(

Felt a little uncomfortable taking the shot :-), hope I will not get banned for this explicit photo :-)

These where taking with the 7D mark 2 a very nice combo.
