Saw a M 55 200 lens in a shop last week and it played on my mind for a week. Yesterday I broke and GAS reared its ugly head. So went in picked it up to compliment my light weight hiking kit instead of the 70 200 F4L. Left the shop walked about 200 yards to the river to try it out. Literally unboxed and screwed on and shot a Heron. I´m fairly happy with the Lens. Its not the sharpest tool in the toolbox but I am admitadly a bit spoilt on that with my other lenses, considering their prices, and this was only 230€. But its amazingly light and compact and because of this will be taking the camera out more on the way to work and generally when am out and about. Plus its unobtrusive so will not be as paranoid using it in town where the larger white lenses stand out like sore thumbs and start me checking all round for any theiving barstewards. Amazingly sharp lenses dont help if you dont take them with you because of their expense and worries of mugging etc.
Heron shot wide open at 6.3 and croped down about 50% I think. Of course subject isolation is not great at that appeture and the pic is pretty much a snapshot would have liked to got down lower but was higher up on the bank and if I had started faffing about too much he would have flown off. Thinking about it if I had had a bigger lens he would have got nervous and flown off. As it was I looked like a typical passerby so he just stood there for a while and wandered off which is another plus point.

Love it!!
I'd like to see Canon give us a similar length lens but faster for M series. Or a long fast prime .....
