It's been a while since a Thrasher visited here!
Another species I wish would stay--so it doesn't seem like
so many Cardinals :(

I drove over to George Bush Park this afternoon. Nothing beats photographing white birds with a light, overcast sky. These Cattle Egrets are quite colorful right now and feeding everywhere in the park.

This guy was close, but I never saw his prey. This is cropped a bit.

This one was even closer, this is essentially the entire sensor, slightly cropped and resampled for the forum server.

These were taken out the window of my SUV (always turn the engine off). It began to rain, so I had to quit. I am finding the 2X extender on my 400DOii to be quite sharp but difficult to work with, due to the shallow DOF and narrow FOV. It is often difficult to locate my target in the viewfinder. Still, I am going to keep at it this spring, lots of fun, when it all comes together.

Non-traditional portrait. At the rookery this morning, wood stork regurgitating some small fish to feed a whole small flock of chicks in the nest.

Nice shots, and good info on the 400 DO II.

I prefer to be in the bush with the animals than a crowded city.
