I actually bought this lens second hand, to have a reasonably well performing zoom when I wasn't able to stick to just one lens, for example because of the very spontaneous ways of the Carnival in Aalborg, Denmark.
The lens is really really good though. I enjoy using it, it is sharp, focuses fast and precisely and covers a good range.
I find I select this lens more often than not, simply because it seldom lets me down.
Only downside is the aperture of f/4, which can be a bit to small at times. When comparing this lens at 35mm wide open to my 35mm f/2, especially in low light situation, the 35mm f/2 does come out on top.
But sometimes a good zoom can really save the day...
