Spotted the first ladybird in my garden this afternoon - orange with plenty of spots, but not a harlequin I don't think. Seems to small for that, so I'll suggest it's the 14-spot, Propylea 14-punctata...

The first image is the one when I spotted her, and was with the Canon 100mm IS L lens, the following three were the closer photos using the LAOWA Venus 2:1 macro lens.

You can she's making her escape in the last after being pestered by the maniac 'tog in the middle two!

Incredibly low light evening situation, tried everything everyone suggested here, even set ISO to 1600. Managed to stop the action and still have somewhat of a picture.
Thank you to all who gave suggestions. Can't wait to try shooting in sunlight again now.

These plants with long trunk and flowers is interesting. Plant seems to be small but grows up very tall flowery trunk. I ran into similar type of plant with tall flowery trunk.

I got new Sigma 17-50mm lens few months back. Just started playing with it. I think it is front focusing and not as sharp as my old one. Might need to send it to Sigma for tuning.

I don't know about the plants in your quote, but the plant you posted appears to be an Agave Americana. This plant is commonly called a century plant. They will have tall (very tall) stalk after the plant grows for a decade or more. Once they produce, then the original plant dies.

This is a rather small one - the orb spider is not much more than a spiderling - though I'm not sure of her age...

Exif: 1/250sec, ISO 125, f/11.

Bloody hell I just don't like getting close to earwigs!

This one mind you was probably more interested in digesting the remains of a small fly - might have been an aphid..
