No it is not as good as the 100-400 Mk2.

Is it good enough that it makes no difference in real use? Eye of the beholder I would say, but I was very happy with the mk1 100-400mm for a decade, and i do believe the SIGMA is as good or better than that lens.

How about the 100-400ii with the 1.4X lll? I lose more detail than I like. I'm guessing the Sigma is probably better than that..... but that's why I'm hesitating.

I'd take the native lens vs. the T-Con.

150mm has its landscape uses ~

I also came from the 100-400 v1. I find the 150-600 just as good as the 100-400 and I get 200mm more reach (and I was happy with the 100-400 - felt it was very sharp). As for the Siggy vs Canon mkII, if I didn't shoot at 600mm most of the time I'd probably go Canon.

I came from the 70-300L which I've always felt was quicker and has better IS but after getting used to the length I've been happy with the quality of the images. However I've recently used the 70-300 again and I am now teetering on the edge of the opinion that I like the images from the canon better than the sigma. They definitely have better colour and I feel the contrast/sharpness has an edge over the sigma. So much so that I've been locking the sigma at 400mm to see how I feel about that focal length and I've been watching some 100-400 MkIIs on ebay!

Great capture.

Both are very nice but really love the pose of the 2nd! Nice sharp captures.

Set the focus limiter to 10m to Infinity this time

First attempt at using this lens at a baseball game. I'm quite impressed. It was overcast so I had to keep cranking the ISO up, but still pretty decent. I'm sure it will be amazing for a sunny day game.

Is it worth selling my 100-400L (version 1) to fund the Sigma? The photos in this tread are impressive.
